The Morgan County Mat Dogs have seen limited action lately since senior wrestler Austin Sharp was struck by a vehicle last week.
Coaches and players spent time with Sharp at Atlanta Medical Center following the incident, and some of the team's events were cancelled.
Mat Dog Head Coach John Robbins, who has spent significant time at the hospital with Sharp's family, said that the team didn't participate in their scheduled February 6 matches at Marist and last weekend's Sweet Onion Invitational in Vidalia.
The team, however, will participate this weekend, said Robbins, win they host the Area 3-AA Tournament. A good showing coming back from the time off could earn the team or some of it's players a trip to the state championships the following weekend at Gwinnett Arena. So far this season the team has had some success against region competition.
This weekend’s tournament admission will be $7.
