The Bulldog soccer team started their season off right on Thursday, opening with a shutout 5-0 region win at nearby Putnam County.
The game was never close, as the Dogs led 3-0 at half-time.
"It was a good first match for us," said Dogs Head Coach Chip Meyer. "But we found some things we need to work on."
Meyer said he would like to see his team finish plays better, but he said he was pleased with his team's passing.
"I think our passing was very good," he said. "We've just got to work on finishing."
Dylan Davis had two goals in the win for Morgan County, both were assisted by Jacob Connelly. James Moore, Sean Kaple and Greg Manzo also had goals for the Dogs.
Connelly had three assists.
The team hosted rival Athens Academy on Tuesday night. They travel to Oglethorpe on Friday for a weekend tournament.
Morgan County opens with East Hall at Oglethorpe at 5 p.m. on Friday. If they win they play at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Oglethorpe. If they were to lose they'll play at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
