Dogs struggle in non-region games

Coming off a region win over Putnam, the Bulldog soccer team struggled this past week in a non-region game with Athens Academy and at an Oglethorpe tournament, coming out with three losses for the week.
The team was short-handed over the weekend. By Saturday they were down four players missing due to either suspension or injury.
"That really hurt us," said Morgan County Head Coach Chip Meyer.
Wet field conditions also played a factor as the Dogs went down 2-0 to Oglethorpe Saturday, after having fallen 4-2 to East Hall in the tourney opener on Friday.
Jacob Connelly and Leonel Mendoza each had  a goal for the Dogs in their loss to East Hall, and with a key ejection for Morgan County with the score tied at 2-2, the team was unable to fend off East Hall while playing with one man down for the game's remainder.
The team entered the weekend tournament with a close 4-3 loss to Athens Academy last Tuesday. Connelly had two goals and Mendoza had one in the game.
Meyer said the team has some early-season mistakes to correct as they get closer to the region portion of their schedule which heats up after intercession.
"Passing is where we're working right now," Meyer said.
The team traveled to Eastside on Tuesday. They'll have their next home game when they host Social Circle Tuesday, March 4.
