Ezekiel Roy Lambert

Roy Lambert lived in the house on North Main Street in Madison where he was born. With the exception of service in the United States Navy during World War II (1942-1946), and while he was getting a college education, his life was centered in Madison and Morgan County.
He graduated from the University of Georgia, where he earned both a business degree (1947) and a law degree (1950), and was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and Phi Delta Theta Social Fraternity. He passed the Bar in 1950 and hung his shingle in Madison.
Soon after starting his practice he met Christine Davis. In May 1954 they married and in 2004 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have three children, Leigh Lambert Goff of Atlanta, Anne Lambert Trulock of Madison, and Ezekiel Roy Lambert III of Madison.
He won a close race and served in the Georgia Senate from 1955-1956. He was encouraged to run in 1963 for the State House of Representatives. He won the election and held that seat until retiring from active politics in 1985. Mr. Lambert earned several appointments during his political career such as Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, Chairman of the House Rules Committee and the Industry Committee, and eight years as Governor Busbee’s Floor Leader.
Mr. Lambert retired from politics when the Board of Directors of the Bank of Madison asked him to be president. He served as President of the Bank of Madison for many years, and was recently serving as Vice-Chairman of the bank’s board of directors. He was senior partner of Lambert, Reitman and Abney, LLC, the firm he started in September 1950. He was a member of Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Bar Association (President 1968-1969); American Bar Association; State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He was admitted to practice in the Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, United Stated Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, and United States District Court, Middle District of Georgia and Northern District of Georgia.
Mr. Lambert was very active in his community. He was a member of Madison First United Methodist Church, served as vice president of Economic Development for the Madison-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Madison Kiwanis Club, member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, past president of the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, and member of Gridiron Society.
Other honors include being named the first “Business Legend” by the Madison-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, The Chief Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service, Georgia Legislative Service Award from the Georgia Municipal Association, Distinctive Service Award for serving on the Board of Visitors at University of Georgia, Chairman of the Judicial Compensation Commission of the State Bar of Georgia, Conservation Service Award from Georgia Ducks Unlimited, and 2005 Commendation from Governor Sonny Purdue.
In addition his wife and children he is survived by four grandchildren, Christine, Mary Helen and Sutton Trulock of Madison and Will Goff of Atlanta; a sister, Mary Anne Broadrick of Dalton.
Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 24 at Madison First United Methodist Church with Dr. Kirk Bozeman officiating and assisted by Rev. Tom Kerr and John Miles. Interment was in Madison City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center,
Morgan Memorial Hospital or the First United Methodist Church building fund.

Pamela Harris Myers
The memorial service for Pamela Harris Myers, 92, of Madison, who died Wednesday February 6, 2008 at her residence, was conducted Monday February 25 at Madison Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Rev. Tim Boggess officiated.
A native of Fulton County, Mrs. Myers resided in Madison for the past six years. She was a former art teacher at the Atlanta High Museum and a homemaker. She was a member of the DAR Cherokee Chapter in Atlanta for over 50 years; she attended the First Presbyterian Church of Madison and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by a sister, Olivia Reischling, and two brothers, Burton C. Harris and Charles W. Harris.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela M. Sedberry and her husband John, of Leesburg, and Beverly M. Howard, of Augusta, and her fiancée Don McNeill, of Thompson; a brother, Tom Harris, of Decatur; five grandchildren, Brett Peterson, John Peterson, Corday Howard Borders, Dr. Kevin Howard, M.D. and Laura Peterson; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family received friends at the church after the services.

Mozell Virginia Williams
Mozell Virginia Williams, 76, died Thursday, February 7, 2008.
She was born in Buckhead to the late Moses and Rosie Evans on December 20, 1931.
She was employed at J Bryon Department Store, which was later known as Uptons; and retired there.
She is survived by children, Shirley Booker, Melvin William and Edgar Williams (Wanda); five grandchildren, Shemela, Deja, Dontae, Olivia and Leah; a sister Disly Stoy (Roosevelt); a brother Jesse Evans (Annie Ruth); two brothers-in-law Will (Ned) and Neal Williams; two sisters-in-law Louise and Mozell Williams; special friends Maude Blackwell, Mother Lou Rice and Mother Roosevelt; adopted children, Curtis (Donzella) Latimer and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and the St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church family.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 16 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. John E. Butler, Rev. Rodney Evans, Rev. Eric Evans and Rev. Kito March. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Buckhead.
Pallbearers were her nephews and flower girls were her nieces.

Tommie Lee Ross
Tommie Lee Ross, 63, died Thursday, February 14, 2008. He was born August 30, 1944 to the late Erwin and Annie Ross in Madison.
He was a member of Jackson Grove Baptist Church. He was employed at General Motors for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife Johnnie Nell Ross; three sons, Christopher (Angela) Ross and Gregory Ross both of Greensboro and Quinton Andre (Angela) Ross of Madison; a brother, Larry Ross of Madison; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; God son, Donald Wilson and a God daughter Belinda Morris. A brother Erwin Porter Ross Jr preceded him in death.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 19 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Hoke L. Smith Pastor officiating assisted by Rev. Jimmy Smith, Rev. W. J. Reid, Rev. Willie Enus and Pastor Anthony Wilson. Interment was in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pall bearers and flower bearers were family and friends.
