The Lady Dogs soccer team hung around for a half, but Eastside pulled away from them late last Tuesday in Covington, beating the Lady Dogs 9-3.
Eastside took an early 1-0 lead in the first half, but the Lady Dogs responded with two goals of their own and led most of the opening half.
"In the first half we played some of the best soccer I've seen us play," said Morgan County Head Coach Jessica Ward. "The passing, the teamwork and the soccer was the best of the season thus far."
"We started out strong in the second half but Eastside started out stronger," she said. The second half is where the Lady Eagles exploded offensively to take control of the game.
Malin Dartnell had two goals for the Lady Dogs and Mandi Smith had one. Picking up assists were Andi Dangerfield with two and Annie Carter with one.
"Even though the score doesn't show it, we played some really pretty soccer," Ward said. "And the girls improved tremendously since the Athens Academy game."
