Weather has been unusual, but God sends much needed rain
By Willie Ann Johnson
We are having some unusual weather but I thank God for the rain we’ve been blessed with, which is much needed. That is why God is sending it our way because He knows what we need even before we ask, praise the Lord.
My flowering pear trees are almost ready to blossom out in their pretty white color; also my plum tree is full of blooms. I am claiming a bountiful crop this year if it’s the Lord’s will. Last year the cold spell we had wiped out all of the fruit. Saturday I saw a few snow flurries but not enough to accumulate; it was still cold and windy Saturday evening.
Today, Sunday is cool but a beautiful day to be in the house of the Lord for Sunday school and morning worship. Our teacher, Dea. Johnny Hubbard taught the Sunday school lesson to the fullness; “God makes a covenant with David,” he explained to the class the old covenants and the new covenant. Praise the Lord. Dea. Hubbard put in a lot of studying and he is showing himself approved to teach the lesson. Keep up the good work Dea. Johnny.
We welcome you to the Springs where strangers meet friends and sinners meet Christ. You’re surely to get a blessing by coming.
Our Senior Deacons came forth with a powerful devotion and song, “Guide my mind while I run this race.” This is how some people are today and we need to ask Jesus to do just that; because we don’t want to run this race in vain. Praise the Lord.
Pastor T. came forward in his call to worship. This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice in it. I for myself will do just that, thank you Lord.
Right after the call to worship our gospel choir came with a beautiful song, “Because He lives I can face tomorrow,” and another song “What ever you do let Jesus lead you.” What a powerful song, let Jesus led you and not man. Man will lead you to destruction; God will lead you in the right direction. Our pastor’s text came from the book of Romans 12, verse 1, “An offering we all can give.”
Every one of us can give ourselves to the Lord in a pure and holy acceptable way. Think about it now if Jesus were to come today would you be acceptable? Or would you have to go get something in order to be acceptable to the Lord? If you had to go and get ready then you are not ready. You should be ready because in Romans 12: 1 it did say I plead with you brothers and sisters to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifices the kind He will accept. When you think of what He has done for you is it too much to ask? Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think, then you will know what God wants you to do. Ask God to renew your mind, get all of that old stuff out and put newness in your mind, stop going down memory lane about what someone did to you 20 years ago; stop worrying about anything, instead pray about everything. If you do this you will experience God’s peace, this is far more and wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. This is an offering we all can give. Praise God.
Continue to uplift Bro. Ervin Evans and Deacon Moses Hill in your prayers.
We were glad to see all our college students at church on Sunday. It’s probably spring break for some but they couldn’t have chosen a better place to be than at church.
Our sister Alyce continues to do well. I visit with her more since I have more time.
Let us keep all the sick, shut-ins and bereaved in our thoughts and prayers.
Thought for the week: “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved,” Romans 10:9.
