Leroy Hunt
Funeral service for Leroy “Leedy” Hunt was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Lower Mosely Baptist Church in Rutledge with the Rev. George Brown officiating. Interment was in Lower Mosely Church Cemetery.
He was the son of the late Ossie W. Thomas Hunt and Ned Hunt. He retired from Pritchard Farm and Nursery in 2004.
Mr. Hunt is survived by his five children, Barbara (Louis) Dockery of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Akquah Avraheem (Roy Lee) Hunt of New Jersey, Betty Higgins (Otis) of Madison, Terry Hunt of Columbus and Loisteen Hunt of Madison; eight grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Margie Thomas of Madison.

Bruce Shaffer
Bruce Shaffer, 47, died Sunday, May 4, 2008. He was born November 14, 1960 to Kesai Lumpkin Shaffer and Ernest Shaffer.
He attended school in Morgan County and later earned a General Equivalency Diploma. He was known as a hard worker and a laborer. His love was his auto detailing and repair business that he created. He was an active member of the Fellowship of N. A. and A.A.
He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Shaffer and a sister Evelena Shaffer
He is survived by his mother, Kesai Shaffer of Atlanta; his sons, T'resse N. Colbert of Madison and Nicholas Shaffer of Atlanta; sisters, Callie M. Wright of Madison, Ernestine Shaffer of Atlanta, Ella J. Shaffer of Decatur, Ginger (Rody) Samson of Snellville, Lurleen (Vincent) Edwards of Powder Springs, Patricia (Elbert) Burston, Mary (Eddie Dean) Tolbert, Donna Brown, all of Madison, brothers, Charles Lumpkin of Social Circle, Edger L. Shaffer of Decatur, Edward Shaffer of Ellenwood and Jimmy L. Shaffer of Decatur; aunts, Evelena Blackwell of Kansas City, Kansas, Katie Key, Ann Hill, Essie Carter, Lily Shaffer, and Betty Shaffer, all of Chicago, Illinois, one uncle, Willie F. Shaffer Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas and a devoted friend, Christine Gibbs of Decatur, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Jones and Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Albert King and Minister Johnnie B. Horne Jr. officiating Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were George Worrell, Emory Laguinn, Carl Thomas, Marvin Laborn, Charles Mack, and Furman Parham. Flower bearers were Nicole Wright, Ashley Shaffer, Marva Edwards, Portia Jordan, Kenya Shaffer and Tianna Bailey.

Dorothy Shepherd
Bumgarner
Dorothy Shepherd Bumgarner, 73, of Madison died Wednesday, May 7, 2008. She was born January 8, 1935 in Morgan County to Fox and Lizzie Daniel Shepherd. She was married to Virgil Bumgarner.
Mrs. Shepherd was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She will be remembered as an encourager to those around her.
Mrs. Shepherd is survived by her husband of 54 years, Virgil Bumgarner and one daughter and son-in-law, Connie Cunningham and Jimmy; one granddaughter, Emily Lacy and husband Jim; three grandsons, Jim Lacy Jr., John Lacy and Jay Lacy; two sisters, Kathleen Bumgarner Baughcum and husband Curtis and Thelma Moon and husband Aubrey.
Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 9 at Trinity Baptist Church. Interment followed at Sugar Creek Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association.

Everette Watson Armour
Everette Watson Armour, 95, of Madison died Saturday, May 10, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Louise Wolfe Armour; daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary Armour and Wallace B. Salter Jr. of Bishop; grandchildren, Marsy McWhorter (Jay) Boyd, Brantley W. McWhorter, all of Watkinsville; step-grandson, W. Bruce Salter (Sara) Salter III of Panama City, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Armour was born in Rayle, where he resided until he came to Madison. He co-owned a variety store in Madison. Approximately one year later he and his bride, Louise opened Armour’s 5 and 10. They operated the business until their retirement in 1997. He was an active member of Madison Baptist Church where he served in several leadership roles. At the time of his death he was deacon emeritus. He earlier served as an active member of Madison Kiwanis Club where he was president and lieutenant governor for the VII Division Georgia District. He had been a member of the City Council of Madison.
A memorial service was held Monday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at Madison Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the building fund at Madison Baptist Church.

Harvey Jean Vickery
Harvey Jean Vickery, 74, of Madison died Monday, May 12, 2008 at his home. He was born September 12, 1933 in Farmington to L. C. and Viola McClain Vickery. Mr. Vickery was married to Mary Ann Cranford Vickery. He was retired from the Untied States Navy having served in Korea and Vietnam. After his military service he joined the City of Madison Police Department where he worked for 10 years and then served as an officer with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office until retiring. He was a member and lay speaker at Prospect Methodist Church in Norwood. He liked to fish and garden but he most enjoyed serving his community.
He is survived by his children, Harvey J. Vickery Jr. and Debra Lynn, Sharon V. Whitaker and Albert, Jerry Ann V. Ruark and Harold, Terry Ann V. Bishop and Wayne and Kenneth Vickery and Jenny; a sister, Inez Preston; and grandchildren, Michelle Walls, Leslie Watkins, Jeremy Bishop, Jennifer Vickery, Jason Ruark, Johnathan Bishop, Anna Ruark, Will Leavell and Harvey J. Vickery III and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Vickery; a brother Bobby Vickery and a grandson, Christopher Whitaker.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, May 14 at Prospect United Methodist Church in Norwood. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Prospect United Methodist Church in Norwood.

Robert Johnekins
Robert Johnekins, 76, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at his home in Madison.
He was born April 24, 1932 in Eatonton to Silas Johnekins and Margaret Driskoll. He was married to Mamie Lue Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Mae Harvey Johnekins; four children, Rubin Johnekins of Hollywood, Florida, Oliver Jenkins of Miami, Florida, Milton and Carolyn Jenkins of Daive, Florida, and Mildred and Homer Howard of Miami, Florida; four brothers, three sisters, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Jones and Turner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cecil W. Champion officiating. Interment was in Jefferson Baptist Church Cemetery, Eatonton. Flower attendants were his nieces, great nieces and friends; Casket attendants were nephews, great nephews and friends.
