“Fathers are wonderful people”

By Margie Ward

I am still not able to attend church; I’m doing a lot better and can get out some with someone else doing the driving. I still have to follow doctor’s orders; he gave me a list of do’s and don’ts. I am sure listening to him, will help me more than anything else. I’ve always said if you’re not going to do what the doctor says you’re wasting his time and your money going to him anyway, so you might as well not go.
Saying all that brings me to the notes that Kittie Mayfield made for me about church.
On Sunday morning the attendance was good with visitors present; we always welcome them and pray they received a blessing by coming and will come again soon as God leads. The call to worship was “Sweet Hour of Prayer.” Special music was “You Were There,” by Connie Cottrell. Bro. Ron’s message, “Our Position in Christ,” Ephesians 3: 14-21. Twelve times the word spirit appears in the book of Ephesians. When we are saved the spirit of God dwells in us. He said He would never leave us or forsake us. Paul prayed for the church at Ephesus that they would remain true to Christ. Today Christians with the true Spirit of Christ will uphold and encourage each other in the faith. We can be discouraged by bad news, disasters and world events, but God is greater than all of this and we are to trust Him with our lives completely. If we really love Jesus we will rejoice in our hearts. When things go wrong look up to Him. God is able, He has promised to do for us more than we even ask.
On Sunday night at 6 p.m. Vacation Bible School began with a good crowd of children and adults attending.
