“Weather is HOT, and there is nothing we can do but enjoy it”

By Willie Ann Johnson

The weather  is HOT and there is nothing we can do about it but enjoy it. I was in Newnan last week with my daughter Lisa and I enjoyed a week with her and the family that is why there was no news last week. I heard we had a nice service last Sunday, which was Youth Day. Also last week the youth enjoyed doing many activities and going different places. I don’t know too much about it since I was not in town. Hats off to all who had a part in it. We had several families on vacation last week.
Happy belated Father’s Day to all our fathers.
At our early morning service Pastor T. came forward with words that we are in God’s house, His holy Temple where we worship Him but this is not the only temple some of us have, our own temple is our home, cars and workplaces where we can talk with Him. We thank God for giving us all of these places to worship Him. Thank you Lord.
Pastor T’s text came from the book of Hebrew 9:11; 10:18 “Perfect Redeemer.” God is the perfect Redeemer. What you tell God He will not tell anybody else. God can be trusted to keep His promise but man will let you down. Christ is now the high priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that great, perfect sanctuary in heaven, not made by human hands and not part of this created world. Once, for all time, He took blood into the most holy place, but not the blood of goats and calves. He took His own blood and with it He secured our salvation forever. What a perfect Redeemer. Thank you Lord. Continue to read Hebrew 9:11, 10:18.
We thank God for the showers of rain we’ve had. A little is better than none at all.
Praise the Lord for Bro. Reco Veasley who brought words of inspiration to the inmates at the detention center on Saturday.
We wish Sis. Wintress Worrell a speedy recovery.
Thanks go out to Sis. Andra Terrell and Sis. Shelia Sanders for giving the Father and Son Brunch on Sunday after service. There was enough food for other members who wanted to share the occasion with them. Job well done.
Deacon Johnny Hubbard was the speaker at Gresham Grove Men’s Day program on Sunday. Some of the church family went to support him.
We gathered at Dad’s house for Father’s Day and had a great time. He always enjoys his children, grands, and great-grandchildren being with him. We thank God for our Dad.
Keep all the sick, shut-ins, and bereaved in your thoughts and prayers.
Thought for today: “The perfect Christ, Perfect us.”
