“Beautiful mornings, and summer is on its way”

By Mae Buice

What a beautiful day we woke up with this June morning. I guess the summer is on its way. For all you fathers I hope you had a good and blessed time spent with your family. And you will enjoy the new tie you received.
With so many vacationers and loved ones sick our morning worship was off but the Spirit was strong as we had a different kind of opening service. Lou gave each that wanted to participate in giving a testimony about their father, giving some tribute to them. Some interesting stories were told, some with tears others with laughter. Then he took his sermon from 1 John 4: 7 with his opening statement: We have one that loves us more, yes, our heavenly Father. If we all loved each other the way our Lord and Saviour loves us there would be no wars, no disagreements, no worries of what’s to come. Back in those days we didn’t realize the evilness of the world. But with our loving heavenly Father He give us all. We may have natural love but we need that spiritual love. After we accept Christ we realize that love. Once we get acquainted with Jesus the whole family can come together. Love can wash away all tears. There is no greater love. True love comes when we lay all aside and become His.
Clifford Walker is in Athens Regional doing a series of tests and examinations. We pray that nothing serious will be found and his problem can be taken care of quickly.
Mary Larman sends her love and thanks, telling us that she is doing better.
Curtis Baughcum still is suffering with the pain from his shoulder / arm surgery.
David Bryans was able to come to church on Sunday following his surgery.
Jessie still is not feeling well.
Don Patterson will have surgery soon.
Many are looking forward to our church-wide camping trip this coming Friday. Plans are being made for a “great time to be had by all” then on Sunday night we begin our Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. It will continue Monday through Wednesday nights at 6:30 until 8:30.
Lynda Palmer and Theresa Moore visited with us recently.
We had a good visit with Derek and Rebecca Jenkins last week. Gayle and Jimmy Holmes ate Father’s Day lunch with us. Alfred and Maudie Buice spent several days with us last week following our reunion.
Tim Moore had a good Father’s Day. He and his daughter, Rachael and granddaughter Hannah had a tea party after Tim prepared and baked muffins for them. What a blessed time. As I’ve mentioned before, Tim and Theresa were former neighbors to us in Decatur. Theresa’s mother, my dear friend of many years Betty Cudd is battling cancer and is receiving both chemo and radiation treatments. My love and prayers go out to this dear friend. Theresa is spending much of her time weekly with Betty.
The Herman Evans family have returned from a vacation trip to Frippe Island, South Carolina where they were joined with several other families including Grandon, Nicole and MacKenzie Morris.
The Danny Bell family had a great trip to Daytona and Disney World.
Bill and Mildred Lyle have returned from a trip to Arlington, Virginia to visit David, Elizabeth, Burke and Drew, both fathers’, Bill and David received a blessed Father’s Day.
Don’t forget the Community Sing at Grace Bible Church on the 26. Several churches in the area have fifth Sunday night singings.
We are looking on into July for special events. We’ll be having a Game Day, Homecoming and Revival. We’re again having different speakers and special singing each night. Mark your calendar for Homecoming the 27th with our revival beginning the following night, the 28th.
Wesley and Christy Morris are the proud parents of a darling little girl, Hannah. The proud grandparents are Debbie and Gay Morris here on Blue Springs Drive. Congratulations!
There will be a First Friday Night in July singing at the Crawfordville Auction Barn. I do not know who will be there at that time but will let you know in a future writing. We know we can always hear the Southern Melody Boys plus another good group.
Belated blessings to Shane Bumgarner on the 20, Shane Stewart on the 22, Ray Smith the 23, Dylan Messer the 24 and B. J. Allen on the 25.
Health Tip of the Week _ Eat garlic, it lowers cholesterol, controls blood pressure, combats cancer, kills bacteria, fights fungus and it also helps to keep your friends kissing distance away!
Until next week, may the Lord bless you real good.
