Edna  Alfreda Merrick Lewis

Edna Merrick Lewis, 76, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, died June 13, 2008. She was born to William Burton Merrick and Edna Alfreda Peabody Merrick on November 15, 1931 in Miami, Florida. She was married to John Lewis who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Mike Merrick, Palmer Lewis, Donna Honey, Sam Lewis, Elizabeth Smith, Jackie Rodrigeuz, Vaughn Lewis and Babette Winston; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Ruth Youmans, preceded her in death.
Funeral services was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Ghann officiating. Interment followed at Faith Memory Gardens.

Helen McHan O’Kelley Collins Brown

Helen McHan O’Kelley Collins Brown, 90, of Rutledge died Tuesday, June 17, 2008. She was born June 24, 1917 in Apalachee to William Newton McHan and Clara Belle Morgan McHan. She worked for many years as an inspector at the sewing plant in Madison and also worked in the Cotton Mill in Social Circle for 32 years. She enjoyed golfing and gardening. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved shopping at Belk’s department stores. She was also named the 2005 and 2006 Rutledge Diva.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a son, William “Buddy” O’Kelley Jr. of Rutledge and two grandson, William D. O’Kelley III and wife Robyn and John M. Whittaker Jr. and wife Pam, three great-grandchildren, Megan and Courtney Whittaker, and Jeremy Whittaker. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, William David O’Kelley Sr., Troy Collins and Raymond Brown. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn O’Kelley Whittaker and son-in-law, Dr. John M. Whittaker Sr, a granddaughter, Kelly Dee Whittaker. Other survivors include Jolene W. Parkman, Gwendolyn Horne, Ewell Hitchcock, Ola Jon Vaughn and Martha Claire Giddens.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Rutledge Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Ghann officiating. Interment was in Rutledge Cemetery.

Joe Willie Kinney

Joe Willie Kinney, 65, of Madison died Sunday, June 22, 2008. He was born March 25, 1943 in Morgan County to Rollie Pierce Kinney and Lottie Anderson Kinney.
Mr. Kinney was disabled by his illness but had worked as an associate for Madison Wal-Mart. He was married to Judith Knight Kinney.
He is survived by his wife Judith, and two sons, Joseph Randall Kinney and Joey Lee Kinney; grandchildren, Zoie, Ryan, Justin and Myranda Kinney; and is siblings, Jean Kinney, Joan Conner, Virginia Reick and Jerry Lee Kinney.
Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25 at Sardis Full Gospel Church Cemetery in Between.
