Morgan County Sheriff’s Office
• On August 8 a theft by taking complaint was filed at a Pierce Dairy Road location after a man reported that someone had entered a barn and removed several pieces of steel I-beams, bar joists and pieces of angle iron.
• On August 9 a criminal damage to property complaint was filed at a Prospect Road location after a woman reported that she had discovered nails strewn about her driveway. The complainant said she also found a nail embedded in a front tire and in the rear driver’s side tire of her 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The complainant said she had recently had trouble with a grandson-in-law. The grandson-in-law told authorities that he was not responsible for the vandalism and said that comments had been made regarding his children from a male friend of the complainant and that person was told not to return to the grandson-in-law’s house. Both parties were advised to have no further contact with each other.
• On August 9 a suspicious vehicle complaint was filed at a Riverwalk Road, Bishop, location after a man reported that he observed someone throw a beer bottle out of the window of a blue Dodge Caravan.
• On August 8 a criminal trespass complaint was filed at a Davis Academy Road location after a man reported that someone had fired shots into his barn.
• On August 8 an interference with child custody complaint was filed at an Atlanta Highway location after a woman reported that the father of her child pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store and removed the car seat from her car. The complainant said her husband drove away leaving the father holding a car seat in the middle of the parking lot. The father said the man performed a U-turn and then attempted to strike him with the vehicle. The father said he was driving through the parking lot and heard his son crying and saying “daddy”. Both parties were informed of civil remedies to solve the custody complaint.
• On August 8 a harassing phone call complaint was filed at a Cox Road location after a woman reported that another woman had called her residence. The Pearl Street caller said she had, in fact called the residence after she received a page on her cell-phone requesting the call.
• On August 9 a simple battery complaint was filed at a Bostwick location after a woman reported that while she and her boyfriend were in Bostwick listening to friends sing and play the guitar, her ex-husband was also at the event and requested a beer. The complainant said she rejected the request but agreed after the ex-husband offered to pay $2 for the beer. The complainant said her boyfriend observed the exchange and became angry. The complainant said when she attempted to leave, her boyfriend followed her to her vehicle and held her to the ground and attempted to take her keys. The complainant said she returned to the function and the ex-boyfriend allegedly threw a cooler at the complainant but instead struck the complainant’s father. The woman said she then attempted to leave again but noticed that someone had removed the battery from her vehicle.
• On August 8 a theft by taking complaint was filed at a Parks Mill Road location after a man reported that someone had removed a refrigerator and a washing machine from his rental property.
• On August 8 a fraud complaint was filed at a Lakeshore Drive, Buckhead location after a woman reported that several packages had been delivered to her residence that she had not ordered. She said she also noticed several charges on her bank account that she had not approved.
• On August 6 a burglary complaint was filed at the Department of Transportation headquarters on Bethany Road after a man reported that someone had entered the site and removed approximately 150 gallons of diesel fuel from four separate vehicles.
• On August 7 a verbal dispute complaint was filed at a Newborn Road, Rutledge location after a man reported that following an argument with his fiancé she allegedly left the house but struck his vehicle while leaving.
The fiancé said that the couple had argued and she decided to leave but changed her mind because there were four children in the home and she did not want to disturb them. She also said that the complainant had thrown a beer at her that resulted in beer getting inside her vehicle. The complainant said that the argument was based on his allegation that the fiancé had been drinking all day.
• On August 11 Kenneth Jerome Taylor, 39, Madison and Denny Maurice Latimore, 35, Monroe, were both arrested and charged with the theft by taking after a 1989 Chevy pickup Taylor was driving in the Bostwick area was stopped by a deputy for a faulty dealer tag. Following the stop the deputy was informed that the truck had been reported stolen from the Conyers area.
• On August 6 a harassing phone call complaint was filed at a Heidi Trail, Buckhead location after a man reported that a woman had sent him repeated text messages and voice mails after being requested to stop.
• On August 6 a simple battery complaint was filed at a Flat Rock Road location after a 19-year-old man said he attempted to intervene during an argument between his mother and a man and the man allegedly struck him on the left elbow.
• On August 5 a theft by taking complaint was filed at an Athens Highway location after a man reported that he suspected his 13-year-old grandson had taken his .38 caliber Smith and Wesson.
• On August 3 an entering an auto complaint was filed at a Flat Rock Road location after a man reported that someone entered his vehicle and removed a black and red Fosgate 1200 watt amp.
Madison Police Department
• On July 27 a simple assault complaint was filed at a Madison Avenue location after a woman reported that while she was visiting her mother’s house her children were playing in a nearby park. The woman reported that two unknown boys and one unknown girl slapped, punched and kicked her daughter.
• On August 2 a simple assault complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had allegedly pushed the complainant on the nose with his finger while threatening to physically assault the complainant.
• On August 9 a criminal trespass and simple assault complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road motel after a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had come to the motel, broke a window and then demanded that she pack up her things and leave with him. A man in the room alleged that the ex-boyfriend pushed him against the wall. The ex-boyfriend told police that he had visited the room and had become upset when he found a man in the room. He alleged that the complainant has a substance abuse problem and that the man contributes to the problem. He denied breaking the window or pushing the man.
• On August 9 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Monticello Road convenience store after a woman reported that someone had cut the phone lines to the business.
• On August 10 a burglary complaint was filed at a Meadow Ridge Drive location after a woman reported that someone had entered her residence and removed a 26-inch RCA plasma television set.
• On August 10 a stolen gun recovery report was filed at the 113 exit ramp off Interstate 20 after a man reported finding a 9 mm Hi Point handgun. Officers checked the weapon and learned that it had been reported stolen in Manning, S.C.
• On August 9 a theft complaint was filed at an Eatonton Highway department store after a woman reported that someone had stolen her shopping cart of paid items. The items were valued at $47.71.
• On August 8 a burglary complaint was filed at a Micha Way location after a woman reported that someone had kicked down her door and removed a red and black globe that contained change.
• On August 6 a larceny complaint was filed at a Church Avenue location after a woman reported that someone had stolen her husband’s 26” Mongoose mountain bike from the yard. The bike was silver and chrome. On August 8 the bike was recovered in an open field at the end of Micha Way.
• On August 5 an entering auto complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a man reported that someone had entered his vehicle and removed 30 Percocet and 30 Librium tablets.
• On August 7 a fraud complaint was filed at a Monticello Road veterinarian office after the office was contacted by Target in Athens regarding a Hydrocodone prescription. Reports state that someone allegedly used a Madison veterinarian’s medical identification and name to order the prescription. The prescription, reports state, was fraudulent. Officers are investigating the matter.
