Man dies after Lake Rutledge incident

A 20–year–old Oxford, Ga. man died late Sunday night from complications suffered from a near–drowning incident at Hard Labor Creek State Park.
According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, DeAngelo White died at the Atlanta Medical Center. White went under water on Sunday, August 10 while at Rutledge Beach at Hard Labor Creek State Park. Friends of White said the man could not swim, reports state.
A witness at the beach said White had gone past yellow boundary markers and that he flapped his arms and then went under water.
White was pulled from the water by witnesses at the scene. Reports state that he was not breathing and had no pulse. Witnesses performed CPR until National EMS representatives arrived. White was air–lifted to Atlanta Medical Center.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m.
