After beginning the season with two consecutive wins, the Morgan County Middle School Bullpup fast pitch softball team entered last week's action looking to stay undefeated.

The Pups began play on August 19 with a game at Social Circle. A flurry of runs combined with key pitching lead to a 16-11 victory, moving the Pups’ record to 3-0.

Dee Pittman, eighth grade, led  the team with two hits. Rebecca Webb, eighth grade, Chelsha Bell, eighth grade, Victoria Thomas, eighth grade, and Madison Busbee, eighth grade, also contributed at the plate with one hit a piece.

Thomas held Social Circle at bay with her five strikeout, complete game pitching performance.

"Victoria did a good job pitching in this game," Assistant Coach Brian Cousins said.

On August 22, the Loganville Red Devils came to town and ended the Pups undefeated season with a 17-8 victory.

Mid-game run scoring doubles by Megan McSherry, eighth grade, Thomas and Webb only padded the blow as Loganville scored often against the pitching of Busbee and Thomas. Thomas recorded three strikeouts during her two innings of work.

Busbee, and Webb added hits late, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

The Pups fell to 3-1 on the year.

Morgan will travel to Youth on August 26 then face Monticello at home on August 29.
