Morgan County GOP to hold kick–off rally
Special to the Citizen
The Morgan County Republican Party is throwing a party at Historic Broughton Hall ( 411 Old Post Road, Madison), Tuesday, September 9, starting at 6 p.m.
Our neighbors and friends will be treated to delicious chicken wings (secret recipe…don’t ask), sides and assorted beverages.
This party comes complete with live music — no cover charge. And you are invited.
All Conservatives of any party will want to come mix together with like-minded friends and neighbors and get a chance to personally meet, greet and listen to Republican candidates who are running for important posts in the upcoming General Election this November.
It is always nice to be able to put a face to a name on the ballot.
The Morgan County Republican Party thinks it is so important, and thinks these candidates are so qualified for the job they seek, that the Party is throwing this shindig to make the evening comfortable and accommodating for all those who would like to know more about these candidates.
For instance Saxby Chambliss (U.S. Senate) and Paul Broun (U. S. Representative) have been invited. They are Morgan County’s representatives in Washington.
Closer to home, State Senator Johnny Grant will be there. On the state House side, Representatives Bob Smith and Doug Holt represent Morgan County and will be there.
Among those Republicans running for office here in Morgan County, you will encounter Robert Markley (Sheriff), Terry Evans (Tax Commissioner), Sammy Cathey (County Commissioner, District 5) and Ed Latham (County Commissioner, District 1).
Wings will be ready about 6 p.m., stump speeches begin about 7 p.m. and run until the chicken is gone.
Campaign yard signs, bumper stickers, window stickers and fact sheets will be available for all of our outstanding candidates including our presidential team of John McCain and Sarah Palin.
