A two game losing streak has pushed the Morgan County Lady Bullpups fast pitch softball team to 3-3 on the season.
On Tuesday, August 26, the Pups faced Youth Middle School.
An extra-inning affair lead to the first of two consecutive 5-4 losses.
Victoria Thomas pitched a complete game, recording seven strikouts and two walks.
“Victoria pitched a great game, we just couldn’t hit,” Head Coach Julie Jameson said.
Rebecca Webb had three of the Pups four hits.
On Friday, August 29, Monticello came into town and handed the Pups their second 5-4 defeat.
Maddison Busbee and Thomas shared pitching duty against Monticello, giving up five runs during the six inning contest.
Chelsea Bell had two hits, Katlyn Messer and Busbee both delivered bunt singles, Webb added a hit and Taylor Bruce also added a late hit but was left stranded on base unable to score the tying run.
“We just couldn’t get it done that day,” Jameson said. “We hit the ball well, we just couldn’t get the runs we needed for the win. We hope to regroup and get ready for the second half of the season.”
The two loses suffered during last weeks play slows a team that began the season with three wins out of their first four games.
“We will get back on track because we are a good team,” Jameson said.
The Pups next game is Friday, September 5 at Greene County.
