V-ball; Young, Inexperienced

The Morgan County High School volleyball season served up its first contest on Tuesday, August 19 at home against Salem, Winder and Alcovy.
Morgan played a best of three series with each team to determine a match winner.
The Dogs finished the tournament with an overall record of 2-1.
In the first match, Morgan defeated Alcovy 25-20 and 25-16. In the second match, the Dogs loss both games by scores of 28-26 and 27-25 to Winder-Barrow. Morgan won the final match with Salem by scores of 25-17 and 25-13.
Their next contest scheduled for Tuesday, August 26 against Loganville and Madison County was cancelled due to inclimate weather. A make-up date is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14 at Loganville High School.
The junior varsity squad hit the court for the first time on Saturday, August 23 at home for the JV Play Day tournament against Alcovy, Ola, Eastside, Newton and North Oconne.
The JV Dogs left the tournament with an overall record of 2-3.
In the first match, Morgan suffered defeat to Ola by scores of 25-10 and 25-13. Eastside handed the Dogs their second loss of the tournament by scores of 25-20 and 25-8.
The third match resulted in Morgan’s first win of the tournament with a victory over Newton by scores of 25-14 and 25-23. A second consecutive win came against Alcovy in a three game set. A win by Morgan with a score of 25-14 and a victory by Newton 25-23 sent the match into overtime. Morgan won the match with final game score of 25-23.
A loss to North Oconee by scores of 25-8 and 25-15 ended Morgan’s tournament.
“We are young and inexperienced, but everyday that I come into practice I can see we are progressing,” Head Coach Pam Hooten said.
