A 4-3 loss to Eastside High School last Thursday moved the Morgan County High School Lady Dogs fastpitch softball team to 0-2 in region play.
The offense for both teams looked sluggish in the first, then a flurry of Eagle hits in the second off the arm of Lady Dog starting pitcher Haley McBay sent Morgan to the plate in the third down by three.
With back-to-back-to-back run scoring hits by the Lady Dogs in the third, the game was tied at three going into the fourth.
The fifth inning went scoreless for both teams, then a two-out hit by Eastside scored the go-ahead and eventual game winning run in the sixth.
“We played better in this game,” Head Coach Anne Stamps said. “We did a lot of good things and I was very pleased with the effort the girls put forth. We still have things to work on, but we are coming around nicely.”
McBay pitched her second complete game of the season, striking out three.
The Lady Dogs next match-up will be more region action taking place at Stephens County High School on Thursday, September 4 at 5 p.m.
