The Morgan County Lady Dogs varsity volleyball team finished a Play Day tournament in Alcovy last Friday with a record of 3-2, moving their overall record to 6-4 on the season.

Tournament losses came at the hands of Ola and Eastside. Ola defeated Morgan 25-21 and 25-18. A two game split, with Eastside winning game one 25-17 and Morgan winning game two 25-21 sent the match into a third game. Eastside took the match with a 25-23 win.

Morgan's wins came against Newton, Alcovy and Salem. The Lady Dogs defeated Newton by scores of 25-14 and 25-23. A win against Alcovy came with wins of 25-19 and 26-24. The final game against Salem was won by the Lady Dogs by scores of 25-22 and 25-11.

"It's going pretty good," sophomore Miranda Parsons said. "We are improving. Our spikes are getting a lot better and our passing is pretty good."

"As a team, we are getting better," Taran Schultz said. "We have a lot of individual talent and we are putting it all together. We are better now than when we first started."

Sarah Mullins added that the team is doing really good, but they still have some work to do.

The Lady Dogs next match-up was scheduled for Tuesday, September 9 in Greenbriar against Greenbriar and Aquinas. Morgan is scheduled to travel to Apalachee today to face Apalachee and Rockdale.
