“It’s camping season for Troop 91”
Special to the Citizen
Our local scouts kicked off the season with a camping trip. Not your ordinary camping trip, but a get down to business weekend. Our older scouts participated in Leadership Training that will prepare them for the rigors of a patrol lead troop. They practiced role playing and decision making, and learned the importance of leadership. They learned to put the Scouting principles, that they have been learning for many years, to practical use. Our younger scouts camped in the rain and worked on activities that are required for earning ranks. In Boy Scouts, your rank indicates what your experiences have been and what you have accomplished. Ranks are not given out just because you show up to meetings and pass to the next grade in school – they are earned.
Requirements for earning ranks are not easy and require motivation and dedication. The next time you see a Boy Scout, ask him what his rank is, he will be proud to tell you about it.
In September, you will have an opportunity to support our Scouts in their annual Trails End popcorn sale. If you know a scout– order popcorn. If you don’t know one, please contact us to place an order, or make a purchase. If you need any other information about Troop 91, please feel free to call…James Orr at (706) 342-1579.
