CDC reviews industrial Enterprise Road plans

The Madison Corridor Design Commission reviewed conceptual plans for a new John Deere landscape facility to be located on Enterprise Road near the intersection with Amtico Road. The facility will be the first to be developed on a number of lots located behind Wendy’s in Madison.

“This is a use that is targeted for this zone, but it is a conditional use,” said Madison Planning Director Monica Callahan. The developers will have to go through a hearing at the county Planning Commission as well as before the Madison City Council before final approval to move forward is granted.

In addition, the piece of land under consideration is one of a couple of lots that have been under a development moratorium for the past three years, ever since some improper clearing of land and trees occurred on the property. The moratorium will be up in February, and while no earth-moving will occur until that time, conceptual planning and zoning hearings can move forward between now and then.

The four-sides brick structure with a stepped-down parapet will be very similar to the Bottle Shop in appearance, said city officials.
