B-team ties Stephens 6-6

The Morgan County junior varsity football team traveled to region powerhouse Stephens County last Thursday to face off against a much stronger and bigger Indians team.

With good, strong play on the defensive side of the ball, the Dogs were able to squeeze a 6-6 tie out of the contest.

“We are very happy with the way we performeded this week against a much larger opponent,” Head Coach Matt Montgomery said. “Our defense played exceptionally well, and our offense mustarded just enough to alow us a tie in this game. Overall, we are pleased but we still have work that needs to be done.”

Sophomore A.J. Smith was the games standout player,  leading the Bulldogs in rushing yards, receiving yards and total tackles. Smith also recorded to forced fumbles.

Freshman Jake Miles recorded the only touchdown for the Bulldogs.

Morgan is scheduled to face off against Hart County at home Thursday, October 2, however Hart said they may not make the contest.
