Morgan County Branch NAACP to hold banquet
Special to the Citizen
The Morgan County Branch of the NAACP annual Freedom Fund Banquet will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. We are excited this year to dedicate our banquet to our very own Laura W. Butler for her countless dedication to Morgan County and the State of Georgia.
This event will take place at the Morgan County High School Cafeteria, located on 1231 College Drive in Madison, Georgia. This year due to space capacity tickets will not be sold at the door.
Our speaker for this occasion will be the president of the Liberty County branch of the NAACP Rev. Liston Singletary, III.
He currently teaches at Bryan County High School as a JROTC Instructor and Career Awareness Teacher. Additionally, in May 2008 he graduated Cum Laude from Armstrong Atlantic State University, earning a BA in Political Science with Teacher's Certification.
He is a member of Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Science and member of Phi Alpha Delta, International Law Fraternity.
His civil rights service has spanned over 20 years culminating in his current popPresident of the Liberty County Branch NAACP and Georgia State Conference NAACP Veteran Affairs Chairman. His love and passion for serving his community is unsurpassed.
His motto is “Though the struggle continues, don’t worry about the journey, stay focused on the destination."
Rev. Singletary currently serves the community in several capacities. He is a proud member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he received his minister’s license, with additional duties serving as a trustee and Sunday school teacher.
He is the founder and former Director of the church’s Young Male Mentoring Ministry. He is happily married to the former Valerie Briggs of Dumas, Arkansas.
