Managing Editor

In an effort to better inform Morgan County citizens, forums featuring candidates running for various local offices will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Among those participating will be candidates for county-wide elections, including sheriff, tax commissioner and probate judge, as well as candidates for District 1 and District 5 county commission seats. These forums are sponsored by the Madison-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, the Steffen Thomas Museum, the James Madison Inn and Conference Center and the Morgan County Citizen.

The schedule is as follows: On Tuesday, October 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the James Madison Inn and Conference Center, a forum featuring candidates for county-wide offices will be held. Participants include candidates for sheriff Robert Markley (R) and Kenny Pritchett (D); candidates for tax commissioner Becky Astin (D) and Terry Evans (R); and candidates for probate judge Mike Bracewell and Ed Prior. The moderator will be Bob Hughes, Madison-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce economic development director.

On Wednesday, October 22, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Steffen Thomas Museum, a forum featuring candidates for the office of District 5 county commissioner will be held. Participants include Betty Straw Brown (Independent) and Sammy Cathey (R).

The moderator will be Patrick Yost, editor and publisher of the Morgan County Citizen.
