Madison Police Department
• On December 13 an aggravated assault complaint was filed at a Green Meadows Drive location after a woman reported that a man known to her forced her into his vehicle and drove to the man’s Green Meadows Drive house. The complainant said that after they arrived at the house the man then allegedly threw the woman into the wall and kicked and hit her. The man also allegedly struck the woman several times in the head with a towel holder rod. The complainant said the abuse continued for several hours until the woman escaped through a window. A neighbor reported observing the man attempting to pick the complainant up off the ground outside the house. The complainant was then transported to Morgan Memorial Hospital by the neighbor. The complainant sustained visible injuries to the back of her head and left forehead. She also complained of chest pains.
• On December 14 a larceny from building complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road restaurant after a woman reported that she entered a restroom at the establishment, removed a wedding ring set from her hands, washed her hands and left. The complainant said she forgot the ring set and remembered it moments later when she was shopping at a Lion’s Club Road department store. The woman returned to the restaurant but the ring set was no longer in the rest room. The complainant said estimated value of the set is $10,000.
• On December 4 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Micha Way location after a woman reported that a man known to her had become upset regarding job applications the woman possessed and had punched a hole into the wall of the woman’s apartment. The man then allegedly left the apartment and the woman secured the front door but the man allegedly kicked down the back door to gain entry into the apartment. The woman later told officers she did not want to seek charges against the man. Estimated damage to the apartment is $500.
• On December 4 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Micha Way location after a woman alleged that a woman who had been evicted from an apartment had forced entry into the apartment by kicking down the back door. Estimated damage to the apartment is $500.
• On December 9 a counterfeiting complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road car title loan establishment after a man reported that he had just received a loan from a Greensboro finance company and was attempting to pay a loan at the car title establishment when a clerk told him a $100 bill the man had was counterfeit. The loan originator in Greensboro confirmed that he had just given the man the cash and replaced the counterfeit bill.
• On December 11 a burglary complaint was filed at a Creek Point Drive location after a maintenance worker reported that he had entered a vacant house and removed the heating element from a Highpoint stove in order to use the part to repair a stove at another location. The complainant said when the owner of the vacant house entered the house later, he noticed that the entire stove was missing.
• On December 14 a counterfeiting complaint was filed at an Eatonton Highway truck stop after a clerk reported that a truck driver had given her a $20 bill to pay for items. The clerk said a counterfeiting bill pen she used on the bill turned an inappropriate color. The driver said he had been given the bill after cashing a check at a Montgomery, Ala. truck stop earlier in the day.
• On December 21 a lost or stolen property report was filed at the Madison Post Office after a woman reported that she had last used her wallet at the post office. The woman said she now could not located the item.
• On December 13 a lost or stolen property complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road home improvement store after a man reported that he had lost his wallet in the store.
• On December 10 an unruly child complaint was filed at a Madison Avenue location after a woman reported that her 16-year-old child became enraged during a car ride to Atlanta where the child was to get a haircut. The complainant said she and the child ended up wrestling in the living room of the complainant’s house.
Morgan County Sheriff’s Office
• On December 12 a criminal trespass complaint was filed at a Dixie Highway, Rutledge, location after a woman reported that while she was driving past a unoccupied rental property she owns, she noticed a dark green Chevrolet double cab truck parked in the driveway. The complainant said she confronted the man driving the truck and was told that the man was using the driveway to turn around. The complainant and her husband later returned to the property and found that someone had opened a front and rear door and a window.
• On December 13 a theft by taking complaint was filed at a Sewell Church Road, Rutledge, location after a woman reported that someone had taken a 3.0 ton HEIL air conditioner.
• On December 12 a battery complaint was filed at a Estes Road, Rutledge, location after a woman reported that after she and her husband came home from a “Chili’s” restaurant, she asked her husband to look for her cell phone clip. According to reports, the husband called the woman a derogatory name and the woman allegedly replied with a derogatory name. The man then allegedly kicked the woman down the front steps causing the woman to break her ankle. Reports state that he then allegedly continued to slap her on the face. The man’s parents allegedly arrived at the house and removed the man.
• On December 14 a suspicious activity report was filed at a Davis Academy Road location after a man reported that someone was knocking on the side of his house. While a deputy was enroute to the complaint, he also received a report of shots fired at the location. When he arrived the complainant said that at approximately 11:30 p.m. someone knocked on the side of his house and then ran into the woods. The complainant said this activity has occurred for years. The complainant also said he had fired a gun into the air to scare the suspects away. The complainant said people dressed in camouflage in the woods near his house were watching his residence. The complainant was advised by a deputy to refrain from shooting his weapon into the air.
• On December 12 a theft by taking complaint was filed at an Atlanta Highway location after a woman reported that three white males in a 1994 green Ford Taurus pumped gas and then left the store without paying for the gas. The woman turned in a tag number and authorities are currently searching for the men.
• On December 12 a theft by taking complaint was filed at a Boswick Road location after a man reported that someone had taken Ocidodone pills from his residence. The man said the theft occurred on December 11 when there was a gathering at his residence.
• On December 11 a theft by taking complaint was filed at a Mallory Road location after a man reported that someone had taken a black trailer and a red Toro riding lawnmower from his residence. The items are valued at $4,300.
• On December 11 Melvin Little, 52, Bostwick, was arrested and charged with robbery after he allegedly took a $165.43 money order from the Bostwick Post Office without paying. Little was discovered, reports state, behind the Bostwick Fire Station. Deputies recovered the money order from Little.
• On December 10 a theft by taking complaint was filed at a Plainview Road location after a man reported that while he was waiting on service men to come regarding the AC units of the Plainview Baptist Church, he noticed two units missing. Estimated value of the stolen units is $10,000.
• On December 10 a simple battery complaint was filed at a Thankful Road location after a man reported that his ex-wife had attacked him. According to reports, the man said the ex-wife was currently living with the complainant and his new wife and an argument turned physical when the ex-wife allegedly struck the husband several times in the face. The husband said he did not want to press charges at this time.
• On December 8 a burglary complaint was filed at a Reese Road location after a man reported that someone had entered his barn and removed a 18 hp John Deere garden tractor, a Walker lawn mower, Troy Built tiller, two deer stands and a Stihl chain saw. Estimated value of the items is more than $19,000.
• On December 7 a criminal trespass complaint was filed at a East Dixie Highway, Rutledge, location after a woman reported that the father of her children had broken the windshield of her vehicle. The woman said that the man had knocked on her window the previous night and then yelled at her from the front yard. She discovered the broken windshield the next morning.
• On December 4 a theft by taking complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that she had $4,200 in a lock box in her closet and when she went to remove some money she noticed $2,000 was missing. The woman told the deputy she did not put the money in the bank because the bank was going to charge her interest and that the money was for emergencies.
