OK, y’all are getting the hang of this lights thing! We’ve been receiving e-mails and phone calls about awesome light displays in the county, and we’ll continue to expand our list through the New Year’s paper, so keep the scouted locations coming. (We’re sorry that last week we accidentally ran a repeat of the story from the week before.) Keep an eye out for those beautiful—or wild—or both—displays of holiday lights!
Apalachee
Sweetbriar Trace—Wow!—on Apalachee Road between Nolan Store Road and Wagnon Mill Road. Trust us, you can’t miss it.
Pintail Court—Lights aplenty!--in Mallard Ridge subdivision, off Beaverdam Road between Nolan Store Road and Apalachee Road. Even the well house gets the holiday treatment.
Bostwick
Downtown Bostwick—Always charming!—on Highway 83 in north Morgan County. A traditional country downtown.
Flat Rock community—Most ingenious—on Highway 83 just north of Prospect Road. “Merry Christmas” spelled out in lights? You’ve gotta check this out!
Prospect Road—Okay, y’all, I haven’t seen this one myself but I am assured that it is a CANNOT MISS!!
Actually in Oconee County, BUT—check it out anyway!—on Price Mill Road, on the right just before you get to Highway 441 in Bishop.
Madison
Downtown Madison—Lights, lights, and more lights!—Between Washington, Jefferson, Hancock, and Main Streets. Park your car and walk around, checking out the holiday windows of the shops and people watching in the county’s metropolis.
Belmont Street—Neighbors, neighbors, and lights—Between Park Street and Billups Avenue. A favorite holiday walking and driving destination.
Crawford Street—Lots of bright lights for your viewing pleasure!
Commerce Street—off Highway 441, between the bypass and the residential part of Main Street. (Turn west by NBC Realty.) An annual mind-blower!
1080 White Street—Better and better!—behind the Beacon Heights Baptist Church in Madison—don’t miss the Mike, Donna, and Miranda Pearson’s family holiday display!
Rutledge
1120 Eugene Lane, in the Whitley Lake subdivision—Check it out!—off Brooks Road, north of Hwy. 278 between Madison and Rutledge.
Buckhead
Where have you gone, John Launius? We miss your Christmas sound-and-light whole-house show! Heidi Trail is not the same without it!
Annual honorable mention, even though it’s not in Morgan County
Stupendous, multi-acre light display across the street from the Greshamville Mall. (As we always note, for new residents to Morgan County, that’s not a “mall” like “Mall of Georgia—“ think gas station/deer processing center!) Take Highway 278 toward Greensboro; take the 2nd left in Greene County toward Greshamville and Farmington and watch out on your right. Trust us when we say—You. Cannot. Miss. It.
