The Morgan County Middle School Lady Bullpups entered the mid-season stretch last week, with games against Loganville Middle School and Social Circle Middle School.
Prior to those games, the Lady Pups found a winning streak with victories over rival Greene County Middle School and Monticello Middle School.
That winning streak was snapped with a loss to Loganville last Tuesday.
That following Friday, the Lady Pups regained control in their conference with a 26-25 nail-bitter over Social Circle.
Against Loganville, the Lady Pups were dominated early and unable to regain composure.
Against Social Circle, the Lady Pups were dominated early, but held together in the final minutes to capture victory.
Stats for last week’s games will available in next week’s edition.
Against Monticello, the Lady Pups were able to hold on to a 22-18 lead with minutes remaining to capture the victory.
Carvetta Williams led Morgan with 10 points. Ashley Elder added nine points. Stacia McClellen scored two points while Savannah Richardson added one.
“Our defense has kept us alive thus far,” Head Coach Brian Cousins said. “We have to work on our free throws and our back court coverage.”
Against Monticello, Morgan once again pulled out a close victory, defeating the Lady Hurricanes 33-28.
Williams again led the Lady Pups in scoring with 13 points. Elder added eight points in the victory. Dee Pittman contributed with seven points, while Richardson and Anna Bryant both scored two points a piece.
The Lady Pups will hit the road when play resumes following Christmas break, traveling to Youth Middle School on January 7, Monticello Middle School on January 9 and Greene County on January 14.
