The Morgan County Bulldogs, in their first tournament of season, took home a fourth place finish in the fourth annual Henry County Christmas Classic last week.
A win over Eagles Landing High School on Friday, December 19 in the opening round put Morgan against Heritage High School in the second round, where the Dogs were only able to muster a total of 18 points in their first loss of the tournament.
The defeat moved Morgan into the losers bracket, and squared them against the tournment hosting Henry County Warhawks.
Despite an early Morgan County lead, the Warhawks mounted a comeback late to take a 76-64 victory, handing the Dogs a fourth place finish.
The Dogs and the Warhawks swapped baskets through out the first quarter, before Morgan gained conrtol of the first half of play.
Entering the third period  of play, Morgan held a comfortable 49-37 lead before Henry County embarked on a 14-1 run, and took a 51-50 lead going into the fourth.
The lead would be Henry County’s first of the second half, and they would not look back, scoring 25 points in the final period to put Morgan away.
Brian Green led Morgan County with 17 points and Rashaun Franklin added 15, but both fouled out with over seven minutes remaining in the game.
Momentum was lost with the absense of the Dogs leading scorers, and Henry County poured it on at the  finish.
The Bulldogs were scheduled to host the traditional Sweet South Classic Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
Check the next edition of the Morgan County Citizen for complete tournament action.
Morgan will travel to Kennesaw State University this Saturday for the Hoops in Overdrive Classic tournament.
The Dogs are scheduled to play at 11 a.m. and the Lady Dogs are scheduled to tip-off at 1 p.m.
