Madison City Council members will meet twice next week for work-session style "Lunch and Learn" meetings with staff to review upcoming projects at City Hall.
"We're going to be handing out research and information on ordinances that need adjusting or tweaking," said city planning director Monica Callahan in a telephone interview on Monday.
The meetings, which are open to the public, will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 5, and Friday, January 9, at the Madison Fire Station adjacent to City Hall.
Monday's agenda is expected to include a review of potential changes to the city's development regulations for office parks and shopping centers, as well as a first look at a traffic study that has as its focus the improvement of the "triangle" formed by Highway 441, Highway 83, and Ward Road in Madison.
"[The council] will be looking at whether that improvement project should be prioritized ahead of the proposed Madison bypass," said Callahan. "The council will be looking at what the city can do to aid traffic flow on Highway 441."
That project could become part of a Capital Improvements Element of any future impact fee program adopted by the city.
Friday's agenda is expected to encompass a discussion of multi-family housing within the city, as well as the city's five-year update to its 10-year comprehensive plan,   which   will   be   going   to the   state    for  review in February.
Callahan said the city will also be looking at changes to its sign ordinance, its tree ordinance, and an update to its Corridor Design ordinance, although those topics are not expected to come up for discussion within the time constraints of the Monday and Friday meetings.
