Matpups continue to impress as season closes

The Morgan County Middle School Matpups continue to impress, taking second place at the Heritage High School East Metro Invitational on Saturday, December 19.

A total of seven teams competed in the competition, and the Matpups missed a first place finish by only two points.

Individually, Clayton Bearden (80 lbs), Grayson Segrest (140 lbs), Stewart Spence (145 lbs), Benjamin Scoggin (152 lbs), Bailey Ross (160 lbs) and Dekota Shelton (215 lbs) all finished with first place medals.
Devan Murry (75 lbs), Jacob Knight (80 lbs), Clay Lester (135 lbs) and Austin Ross (171 lbs) finshed the invitational with second place medals

Kyle Craft (75 lbs), AK Shue (119 lbs) and Tyler Efrid (130 lbs) finished with thrid place medals, while Jack Speyer (75 lbs) finished with a fourth place medal.

The Matpups were scheduled to face Social Circle Middle School at home on January 7, their final match before the beginning of the Piedmont Conference Tournament, scheduled   to  begin January 10.
Teams the Matpups will compete against through out the Piedmont Athletic Tournament include Youth Middle School, Carver Middle School, Greene County Middle School, Social Circle Middle School, Monticello Middle School and Loganville Middle School.
