Biz Buzz for January 15

Firin’ on all cylinders! Yeah! At least, that’s what Momma was thinkin’ when she gulped down six glasses of that famous Southern Chatham Artillery Punch Friday night at the magnificent Madison Bicentennial Ball! Talk ‘bout Shock ‘n Awe! I mean that punch pert near knocked a hole in her head! Snockered! Come on y’all! Let’s go visit Momma and make sure she’s not still seein’ and hearin’ things! Shhhh! Now be real, real quiet! Momma . . . All my Biz Buzz friends here want to make sure you’re all right! Ding dang! What in the Sam Hill are you doin’ dancin’ ‘round the room like a fool chicken? And, where did you get that crazy pointy hat and those ridiculous elfy shoes? Is that a pan pipe you’re tootin’? Lord have mercy! Get the straight jacket and the white coats in here immediately! Momma says she’s headin’ up North to New York City today with the Pied Piper! That sneaky Pied Piper told her he’s been hired to rid Wall Street of its greedy, cheatin’, stealin’, three-piece-suit wearin’ rats and will pay Momma to help him do it! Now listen Momma:  The Pied Piper is flat broke! Bankrupt! Honey, he never, ever gets paid! Now snap out of it and let’s go shoppin’!

Thank goodness the after-Christmas sales are still goin’ strong in Morgan County! I’m flat giddy! The Madison Gift Mart & Café located at 140 West Washington Street is sellin’ select Vera Bradley bags and accessories for 25 percent off, plus they’ve got an entire Sale Room upstairs with candles, Christmas stuff, books, baby gifts and more! Y’all check it out!
Hey and across the street, Wish Berries at 135 West Washington Street has 60 percent off ALL MERCHANDISE! Honey, get over there and get a deal! But, don’t stop there ‘cause Barkin’ Dog Shoe Company next door at 125 West Washington Street has select MBT shoes on sale and 30 percent off select boots, shoes and those fabulously popular flat wallets! Go get you one today and save, save, save!

Stop the Presses! Madison, Georgia is flat famous! This month’s issue of Southern Living Magazine listed Madison as among the top-10 Best Small Towns in its Reader’s Choice Awards!  The top 10 were as follows: 1) Beaufort, South Carolina; 2) Fairhope, Alabama; 3) Fredericksburg, Texas; 4) Blowing Rock, North Carolina; 5) Franklin, Tennessee; 6) Eureka Springs, Arkansas; 7) Oxford, Mississippi; 8) Grand Rivers, Kentucky; 9) Madison, Georgia; and 10) Hendersonville, North Carolina. Momma’s all huffin’ and puffin’ ‘cause she says Madison should have been listed as Number One! Honey, I couldn’t agree more!
And, speakin’ of Number One . . . Have y’all spied the brand spankin’ new Lake Oconee Living Magazine?   Honey, get out there and pick one up immediately! They’re available everywhere! It’s flat stunnin’ and features a fabulous story all ‘bout one of our very own families! I’m talkin’ ‘bout Grady and Sally Tuell and the story of how a tragic storm brought them to Madison and to their family home. It’s beautiful! Read all about it!

Thank goodness Momma’s fully recovered from her Artillery Punch practice! That ball was flat fantastic! Y’all check out a slide show of the Madison Bicentennial Ball by going to www.morgancountycitizen.com and clickin’ on the Biz Buzz Blog link in the upper right hand corner! Hey and y’all make some comments! It looks like I have no friends!
That’s it for the Buzz this week! Y’all be extra sweet in the board room and remember to shop locally in Morgan County whenever possible! Our fabulous shops are much, much more than just stores . . . they are businesses run and staffed by our friends, family and neighbors! So what are y’all waitin’ on? Get out there, shop and help our local economy! The buyin’s never been better!
