Georgie Mae Carpenter, 92, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 7, 1916 to George and Cora Lee Lynch. She grew up and married in Morgan County, spending her entire life here. She was married to Lester M. Carpenter and she was a homemaker that enjoyed gardening and her family. She is survived by her children, Millie Henson and Wayne, Harriett Young and Jerry Carpenter; grandchildren, Lorrie Ghann and Wayne, Kim Johnson and Rusty, Tina Knight and Matt, Mark Wilkins and Carrie, Luke Wilkins and Emily and Deidre Crowell and Justin; 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and daughter Cathy C. Jones.
    Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Faith Baptist Church where her funeral was held on Thursday, January 15 at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Buckhead Cemetery.
