James Perry Atkinson
James Perry Atkinson, 65, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at his home. He was born October 13, 1943. His parents were Herman and Louise Jones Atkinson. He was married to Esther Mullins Atkinson. For years Mr. Atkinson had been employed in the construction supply business.
At the time of his death he was employed by Hallman Wood Products. He was highly respected for his knowledge, expertise, and honesty in his field. He is survived by his wife Esther; four children, Jill and Wade Page of Vidalia, David and Brandy Atkinson of Bedford, Texas; Nathan Atkinson of Vidalia and Reuben Atkinson of Milledgeville; his step-children Charlie and Melissa Brown of Rutledge, Audrey and John Clay of Bishop and Jeffrey Brown of Augusta; his siblings Ronald and Florie Atkinson and Donald and Karen Atkinson of Madison; Sylvia and Charles Conner of Covington and Gloria and William Stapp of Eatonton; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Morgan Page, Jared Page, Joshua Page, Whitney Page, Gabriel James Page, Logan Atkinson, Lily Atkinson, and Ruth Atkinson, Emily Clay, Jesse Clay, Christen Clay, Abram Brown, Marcie Brown, Madelyn Brown and Delainey Brown. A brother, Jerry Atkinson, preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Thursday, January 15 at 2 p.m. at A. E. Carter Chapel with Rev. Rick Smith and Rev. Ron Swann officiating. Interment was in Brownwood Cemetery.
A. E. Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
