Tyrone Bishop

    Tyrone Bishop, 57, died January 12, 2009. He was born November 28, 1951 to the late Rev. James and Mildred Bishop. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served several terms. He later joined the Merchant Marines as a long shoreman. In 1974 he was united in marriage to Delia H. Bishop of Charleston, South Carolina and they were blessed with three daughters. He was employed as a food service manager by Valley Services at the Fulton County Jail in Union City.

    He is survived by his wife, Delia H. Bishop of Charleston, South Carolina, daughters, Indira Lashawn Wright (Jermaine) of Rome; Eliza Harrison of Charleston, South Carolina and Beverly Bishop of Rome; three grandchildren, Demetrius, Mayaja and Xavier; seven brothers, James Bishop (Elaine) of Houston, Texas, Rev. Sam Bishop (Risa) of Athens; Rev. Waddell Bishop (Teresa) of Twin City, Godwin Bishop of Lawrenceville, Wayne Bishop (Sheila) of Rome; Eugene Bishop of Athens and Leo Bishop (Phonda) of Dallas, Texas; five sisters, Beverly Blackshear (Alfred) of Savannah, Cynthia Bishop of Rome, Sheila Bishop of Madison, Lalage Vason (Dexter) of Covington and Pamela Huff (Donald) of Covington, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

    Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Hoke L., Smith and Pastor Robert L. Terrell Jr. officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.

    Flower bearers were his nieces, Dominique Huff, Kirsten Hunter, Tammy Bishop, Lauren Hope-Hambright, Ariel Bishop, and Frances Bishop. Pallbearers were his nephews, Trey Hope, Mandrell Bishop, Corey Bishop, Dee Hunter, Patrick Bishop and Randy Blackshear.

    Mapp-Gilmore Pyramid Funeral Service, LLC was in charge of arrangements.
