Retha Nell Briscoe Hendrix, 78, of Tulsa, Okla., slipped away peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Mrs. Hendrix, the daughter of R. S. Briscoe and Josephine Jones Briscoe, lived in Monticello and Madison before the family moved to Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband, Walter Hendrix.
She is survived by her five children Melinda Hendrix, Columbia, Mo.; Joey (Ann) Hendrix, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Garry Hendrix (Pam), Tulsa, Okla.; Barre (Leslie) Hendrix, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Leigh (Paul) Morris, Tulsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four sisters Nita B. Jones, Macon; Colleen (Bob) Clark, Lizella; Ramona Waters, Gray; and Lynda Sue (Jimmy) McMichael, Monticello; and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins who loved their "Aunt Nell" very much!
A memorial service was held at Adamcrest Chapel in Tulsa on Sunday, January 25, Rev. Eastman Curtis officiating. There will be a memorial service at the First Baptist Church in Monticello, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, Rev. Jim Lane (Mrs. Hendrix's nephew) and Dr.  Bob Whitmire officiating. You are invited to be with the family after the service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy McMichael.
