Despite their best effort, the team of Morgan County High School students participating in WSB-TV's "High Q" fell to Cobb County's Walton High School by 220 points earlier this month.
The team, which doubles as Morgan County High School's award-winning Academic Bowl team, included students Grant Phelps, Seth Porter, Eric Johnson and Patrick Vernon and alternates Kyle O'Connell and Miriam Cruz-Salas.
A tough competitor, Walton High School has taken part in "High Q" for several years, most recently losing to Alpharetta High School in the final round last year.
"We lost in the second round to Walton High School, who was introduced on the show as a 'perennial powerhouse,'" Academic Bowl and "High Q" coach Karl Scott said, in an e-mail. "Just like our run in the state tournament, we went further than many predicted, but fell to a very strong team with a student body of over 2,600...Our Dogs can go toe to toe with the best!"
