Gene Marvin Simpson Sr., 75, of Greensboro died February 19, 2009. He was born April 24, 1933 in Atlanta to Glenn and Elsie Simpson. He was a veteran of the United States Army and spent most of his career as an Army recruiter. He was married to Linda Taylor on February 14, 1972. They have lived in Greensboro for the last nine years.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Linda, two sons, Richard Simpson (Karen) and Gene Simpson Jr.; two step sons, Mark Darnell and Randy Darnell (Michelle), and two grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Darnell.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 22 in the chapel of A. E. Carter Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Dunlap officiated.
