It was a triumphant meet for both the Pup track and field teams as they participated in the second meet of the season.

After coming up just two points shy in their first meet of the season, the Lady Pup track and field team won their first meet of the season and the first win for Head Coach Julie Jameson during her three-years as coach.

"It was just phenomenal," Jameson said. "I could not be any more proud of the effort put forth by these girls. They showed how tough they really are."

There were several last—minute changes made in the lineups as the Pups won the meet by 33 points last Thursday. In the field events, Nikki Boss led the way with a second—place finish in the shot put, finishing just three inches better than fellow Pup Ashley Tiller, who took third in the event. finished first and third in both the 4X100 and 4X400 meter relay.

An under—manned boys team valiantly earned a second—place finish in the meet. Josh Blackburn led the Pups on the track with a third—place finish in the 100—meters and a second—place finish in the 200—meters. Nick Childers finished six—tenths of a second behind Blackburn in the 200—meters for a third—place finish as James Moore and Zach Brown finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the 400—meters. Moore also finished third in the 800—meters and third in the triple jump.

Cicognac Rivers earned the Pups their only first—place finish on the day with a time of 21.6 in the hurdles. Rivers also finished third in the shot put with Blackburn and Moore rounding out the top finishers as they finished second and third in the long jump.

"These young men showed a great deal of determination to get second place," Head Coach Milfred Franklin said. "We knew it was only a matter of a couple of points to get second. They pushed themselves to the max in each event and I was very proud fo the effort they gave."

The Pups hope to see their first home action of the season Wednesday as they host GMC, Greene and Taliaferro at the Dupree Track.
