Della Mae Cobb Johnson
Della Mae Cobb Johnson, 84, died April 17, 2009. She was born August 11, 1924 to the late Heard Cobb and Daisy Sara Bell Patten Cobb. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, Reuben Cobb, Ruth Mae Cobb, Hilda Cobb Knight and Pinkie Cobb.
She was a member of Flat Rock Missionary Baptist church where she served on the Usher Board and the Flat Rock Senior Choir. She married Ervin Clint (Joe-Bo) Johnson, who preceded her in death.
She was employed at Cedar Lane Nursery in Madison for 40 years. She retired and her employer Mrs. Jane Symmes was a good and faithful friend. She loved flowers and her yard proved it. She could grow any kind of flower. She was featured at the Flower Show in Atlanta numerous times.
She is survived by two daughters Daisy J. Curry of Decatur and Lottie J. Lewis of Madison; one sister, Ruth Fisher and a nephew, Calvin Fisher of New Jersey and 10 grandchildren, SGM Scarlett V.
Williams, Morgan (Kenny) Little, John W. Curry Jr. Carlton D. Curry, Velma L. Cross, Cheryl S. Barnett, Valerie L. Terrell, Angelita A. Lewis, Timothy D. (Jeana) Lewis and Andrea A. Jones, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, a godson and goddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Clark Sr., a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Also some very special friends, Annie Maude Elder, Mary Bennett, Charlie Mae Rivers, Larry and Mary Bennett and Lizzie Crutchfield.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. W. J. Reid, Pastor Smiley James, Rev. Charlie Burley, Rev. A. Baker, Rev. Otis Byrd, and Rev. Charles Johnson.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and flower ladies were close friends.
Interment was in Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church.
Mapp-Gilmore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
