‘Why are left–wing politicians... trying to discredit the TEA parties?’

To the Editor:
In 1773, a band of Americans dressed up like Indians and threw British tea into Boston harbor.

Why were these working–class Americans so angry?

Taxes. The American Revolution began as a tax revolt. Our Founding Fathers knew that without framing their bold experiment on freedom and equality, this nation would be doomed to failure. But the revolt began because of “taxation without representation” more than anything else. Americans threw off the shackles of servitude and became citizens, with the right to protest and speak their minds.

That’s why last month’s TEA parties were such a huge success. There were no big donors, virtually no media coverage - there wasn’t even an acknowledged central organizer. Yet more than a million Americans held TEA parties.

Why? Taxation without representation – especially of our children, whom we are thieving with our wanton avarice. So if free speech is a core-American belief, why are left-wing politicians and pundits trying to discredit the TEA parties?

Why did Obama’s chief strategist tell "Face the Nation" that they’re “unhealthy"? I’ll tell you what’s unhealthy- the fact that the average 21-year-old college graduate will have to pay $114,000 over the course of his lifetime just to pay for the interest on this new debt.

The Obama budget projects an astounding $9 trillion increase in federal debt over the next eight years. Perhaps that’s why Obama’s approval rating at the 100-day mark is the second lowest of any president in the last 40 years according to Gallup. A recent Rasmussen poll said that 77 percent of Americans were against more government role in economic affairs.

And a Fox News Poll reported that 62 vs 20 percent said that government spending under Obama was "out of control."

Thomas Jefferson, the progenitor of the Democratic Party, told us that, “When the people fear the government, that is tyranny. When the government fears the people, that is liberty.” It’s time our government wakes up and hears our anger.

American’s are furious at the way our government is recklessly ruining our children’s future with their gratuitous greed.
