A beautiful day for Madison in May

To the Editor:
Madison was again the venue for a wonderful morning of fellowship and road racing. Successful community events such as Madison in May 5/10K Road Race requires its citizens, volunteers, businesses, city officials and civic club members, working together for a common purpose, to make it happen.
Thanks to our sponsors and the well-coordinated efforts of Madison Lions Club and Morgan County Young Life, almost 300 racers enjoyed a beautiful morning running through the quiet roads of the historic district.
Our sincere appreciation goes to the following businesses who provided generous support in this fund raiser for Morgan County Young Life: Madison Car Care, Tequila Express, Jolene’s Perk Avenue, Amelia’s, The Medicine Shoppe, Morgan County Citizen, The Farmhouse Inn at Hundred Acre Farm, NuArt Printers, Georgia Power, Edward Jones, Morgan Stanley, Spence Blueberries, Ingles, Doc 103.9, and the Lake Oconee News. Greg Stewart of Madison Fitness Center again offered his support and the use of his facilities for out of town racers.
The City of Madison, David Nunn, Ann Huff, Ricky Watkins, Chief Travis Stapp and our EMS are always willing partners and ensured the safety for all the participants. First United Methodist Church graciously allowed us to use their property for staging the event as well as property owners along the race route who patiently altered their Saturday morning schedules.
Another great day in May and we challenge all our Morgan County runners and walkers to run with us again next year!
