Rutledge Fair celebrates heritage
To the Editor:
This year's Rutledge Country Fair theme was to honor the sacrifices of our military (alive and deceased). Our Grand Marshalls were 10 World War II veterans of Morgan County. These men paid a tremendous price for our American way of life and freedoms.
Even though three of their transport Humvee's did not show-up and two other vehicles broke down, these World War II vets were of good cheer and enjoyed it nonetheless. For this year's entertainment, the Rutledge Country Fair had to look no further than their very own backyard with our version of the American Idol - Country Fair Star. The talent varied from Christian to Rock to Blue Grass to Rap. The crowd enjoyed the diversity, talent, and the competitive nature of the event.
This year's vendors showcased local crafts and artisans as well as most Rutledge churches, unique businesses like Johnston Dairy Farms, and great foods like Big Kev's BBQ. My personal goal is to bring together all of the community in an atmosphere that celebrates our distinct heritage of God, family, and country. If anyone would like to be a part of next year's event, please call at (706) 557-0211.
