Brace yourself. I’m not kiddin’. This news is big, y’all! I’m talkin’ world-rockin’ big! Ok here goes . . . Heaven is now taste-able! You flat heard me right! Heaven is now taste-able and it’s served up on a spoon at Antique Sweets in downtown Madison! Here’s the deal . . . So I just happened to pop over to Antique Sweets the other day and owner Patrick Alligood offered me a sample of his newest creation: old-fashioned-home-churned-like-Momma’s-on-the-back-porch ICE CREAM! Never in my life! Talk ‘bout tasty DELICIOUS! I ‘bout had a fit! Ok so Patrick says he’s gonna keep this ice cream deal real simple: he’s servin’ homemade vanilla and you can get it with his oh-so-fab pralines, famous fudge or those delectable bull dog bites! It’s served up in a simple paper cup! Lord have mercy! Oh and I nearly forgot . . . Patrick says he’ll serve up that ice cream with seasonal fruit too! Can’t wait for Jim Markley’s Morgan County peaches to come in this summer! Ding dang! That’s gonna be good! Y’all head over there today and taste it for yourself! And, tell Patrick the Biz Buzz sent ya! Oh and you’d best buy Momma some of that ice cream too!

Goodness gracious alive! Lisa Schulte! What in the Sam Hill are you feedin’ those chickens? Whatever it is they sure must LOVE it ‘cause those eggs they’re layin’ are humongous! I flat couldn’t believe it! In case y’all don’t know . . . you can buy Lisa’s chicken’s eggs over at Hunker Downs located on Academy Street in Madison Markets! I mean the egg carton wouldn’t even cover those big fat eggs! Hey and one of ‘em even had a good-luck double yoke! Love it! Y’all go get you some of those freshly laid Morgan County eggs at Hunker Downs today! Love it!

The Graduate. Forget all ‘bout plastics and head over to Creative Mark located at 165 South Main Street in Madison for a great way to honor your grad! It’s sooo perf! Creative Mark owners Joe and Joy Houston’s son just graduated from college and they arranged mementos from his graduation like his announcement and tassels and put it all together in a beautiful frame! Honey, I’m gonna do this for my baby Zach who’s graduatin’ Friday from Morgan County High School! What a great idea!

Arty Party. Karen Strelecki of the Madison Artist Guild wanted me to remind all y’all that this Friday night is the Art Underground Show called “Art That’s Jazzed” at The Shops at the Icehouse Underground located between West Washington and West Jefferson streets and right close to our new Town Park, which by the way is just so beautiful! I can’t believe grass is gonna go in this week! Yeah! But, I digress. Ok so Karen says this art show is gonna be super fantastic with Dr. Vince’s fun band, The Mad Horns, and beautiful art!  The fun starts Friday, May 29 at 7 p.m. and goes til 9 p.m.!

Celebrity shopper! Ding dang! As all y’all know, former First Lady Laura Bush was in town last week tourin’ the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center and some private homes but she also did what any fabulous celebrity would do if they saw all the fantastic shops we have! She went shoppin’! Word on the street is she shopped in at least two retail locations:  Antiques on the Square and Godfrey-Cox Co., both located on South Main Street in downtown Madison! How excitin’ was that? Wow!

What the? Where’d all the space go? Well I reckon that’s a wrap! Hey y’all visit www.morgancountycitizen.com and register to comment on articles and columns! And, before I go I want y’all to remember this: When you shop local, you support local jobs and Morgan County families! It’s THAT IMPORTANT! We are so blessed to have such fantastic shops, restaurants and businesses to choose from so take advantage of what makes Morgan County so special! Hey and don’t forget to advertise local too!  Honey, the Morgan County Citizen is not only the Number One Weekly Newspaper in the Great State of Georgia! It’s much more! That’s ‘cause we reach more consumers, more businesses and more decision makers in Morgan County than any other advertisin’ medium bar none! Be sweet and I’ll see all y’all next week!
