Police chase leads to death; speeds exceed 140 mph

A Monroe man died Sunday after crashing a motorcycle during a police chase.
According to Morgan County Sheriff Department reports, Donald Fitzgerald Daniel, 40, was dead at the scene after the Suzuki motorcycle he was driving crashed at the intersection of Georgia Highway 83 and Marion Ivy Road in Good Hope.

More than 50 people met at a public hearing at 7 p.m. on Tuesday with the Morgan County Board of Commissioners and two employees of the Board of Assessors to discuss House Bill 1081, a new law passed on May 14 that allows a county’s governing authority to establish a minimum acreage for entry into Conservation Use.
