Bulldog team finishes third in season opener
Submitted by archiver on Thu, 03/20/2003 - 20:39.The Bulldog track and field team opened the season with a strong performance March 13 against Greene County, Putnam County and Monticello for a third place finish in the meet.
Things started off well for Morgan County as the first running of the day was conquered by K.C. Vaughters, who ran the 3200—meters in 13 minutes flat for a first—place finish. The Lady Dogs posted mixed but promising results this week, taking a strong win over Lamar County last Tuesday before falling in an unfortunate loss to Harlem last Thursday.
Although the game against Lamar County started nearly an hour late, the Lady Dogs were not disturbed by the change in schedule. The girls came out strong, quickly taking the fight to Lamar. The Buckhead Baptist Church will have a speaker for both services this upcoming Sunday, March 23. Ray Rhoades will be the speaker with "Nourished in the Word Ministries." Attendance was good at Sugar Creek on Sunday morning. Lou instructed us to keep front yard salvation instead of back yard religion. See Matthew 7, Numbers 23 and 1stTimothy 4. His text was titled, By Their Fruits You Shall Know Them. This sermon was directed more to our young people but was good for all of us. He talked to us about the content of today’s music, movies and other entertainment, how to choose ways to keep away from profanity, drugs, etc. We have Jesus to lean on.

The Prime Timers from First United Methodist in Madison have returned from an Ocean Breeze trip on March 9 through the 15. They spent the first night at Walt Disney World, the next night at Key Largo, and then on to Key West. They also went to Miami and then on to St. Augustine and toured Kennedy Space Center.
