Support from Morgan County reaches troops in Texas
Submitted by archiver on Wed, 09/05/2007 - 11:46.Troops in Texas and Iraq will soon be on the receiving end of some encouragement and support from many Morgan County residents after they are given eight banners filled with signatures and DVDs of the Memorial Day festivities where the banners were signed.Â
The project, which was co-sponsored by Calvin George American Legion Post 37 and the Morgan County Republican Party, invited community members at the Memorial Day celebration held in May to sign banners that would be sent to troops serving

Submitted by archiver on Wed, 09/05/2007 - 11:45.After much washing of cars and selling of doughnuts, the youth of Madison Christian Church went to Mississippi, where they ended up in a food fight with three-week-old boxes of broccoli.
No, this wasn’t an ordinary mission trip.
It began with a decision on the part of the youth and their ministers â€" to go and help others. Enlisting the help of S.O.A.R. (Serving Others And Rejoicing) Ministries, Inc., an agency that organizes mission trips, the group began raising funds.

Submitted by archiver on Wed, 09/05/2007 - 11:41.The Boys and Girls Club of Madison-Morgan County plans to coordinate their athletic activities with the Morgan County Parks and Recreation Department, according to president of the board for the local chapter Harris Warbington.
"We are going to work diligently to coordinate our outside activity with the recreation department," Warbington said.
He said the Boys and Girls Club has been in discussion with the recreation department since February.

The new academy, which was begun after the success of last year’s pilot program, Project Recovery, is designed to help students who have been struggling get back on track academically.Â

Blockbuster changes its mind

Blockbuster location was getting ready to say its final goodbyes, it seems that the corporation has pulled the plug on the plan, allowing the video rental store to remain open for business indefinitely.Â
“We just decided to come to an agreement with the landlord,â€� said Blockbuster spokesperson Jeff Seig. “Sometimes, these things just happen.â€�Â
