At the age of 96, Taylor Holloman, Jr. passed away on Thursday, May 7, leaving behind a legacy as the second African-American to serve on the Morgan County Board of Education.
Criminal sentences given in week of Superior Court trials

Several criminal pleas were heard in Morgan County Superior Court last week. The following cases were adjudicated.
• Mary Dawn Kessinger, 35, Madison, negotiated a guilty plea to one count disorderly conduct for allegedly scratching and clawing at a man.

Things are pretty quiet in Madison, as evidenced by an unusually brief regular city council meeting on Monday night--council and members of the public were in and out in 20 minutes.
