Illinois trip, 90th birthday make Madison news

Mrs. John Connelly, Jacob, Kit, and Nicolas and Gil Busenitz attended the Pass in Review Ceremony of Josiah Connelly, in Great Lakes, Illinois on February 29. Josiah worked at the Citizen as a photographer before joining the Navy January 8. He will attend a School in Pensacola, Florida until August 8. He is the son of John and Janice Connelly.
This past Monday Hattie Mina Hicky hosted the Gosh Girls and family at Karen and Peter Wibell's Brady Inn. Ice cream and cake were served in honor of her 90th birthday. Present were Betty Hanson, Elizabeth Baldwin, June Harrell, Mary Butler, Mildred and Sabin Landry, Joan Carter, Stratton and Bonnie Hicky, Dan Hicky and Mina Lujan. Flowers from a beautiful floral arrangement done by Lori Lewis were sent home with the guests
The Boxwood Garden Club will meet March 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Uncle Remus Library.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold King will introduce the speaker for the program. Terry Tatum of Georgia Wild Life Federation will speak on Alcovy Conservation Center. Host and hostess for the evening will be Mr. and Mrs.Merrill Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Glynn Broome.
All members are urged to attend.
Patricia Gilbert Smith of Gainesville, Florida was here during the weekend visiting her sisters and husbands, Monaray and L. C. Powers, Glenda and Lee Nelms and Callie Howell and Robin and Peter Benkoski, Becky Snowden and Sonny Snowden.
Nita Huff is a patient at Morgan Memorial TCU following hip replacement last week.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Ted West who died last week at Morgan Memorial Hospital.
Virginia Davis is a resident of Madison Health and Rehab.
