In Memory of Marguerite Copelan

On June 29 when Marguerite Copelan passed away, all of us at the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art lost a loyal friend and supporter. Marguerite saw the value of the Museum from the very beginning when we opened our doors in 1997. She understood our Mission and what we hoped to bring to the community, even as many people still wondered what in the world a modern art museum was doing out in the country on Bethany Road in Buckhead. Marguerite served on our Board of Directors for five years, three of those as President. She was a valuable leader and advisor to our Board and staff. She knew how to make things happen and could pull together an event faster than anyone I have ever known. She will be missed far more than we know how to express.

The loveliest and the best has smiled and said, “Good Night” and gone home to rest. While we miss you with every breath we take, we know that the life you now live is truly breathtaking and made more beautiful by your presence in it. Thank you for living such a phenomenal life here on earth and for inspiring so many people here.
