Nedra Davis Carlson, 95, of The Villages, Florida died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at The Villages.

Elsie Browning Adair

Elsie Browning Adair, 95, former resident of Greenwood, South Carolina and Madison, died at Heritage Healthcare of Athens on March 29, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Samuel Young Adair, a son, Major Samuel Young Adair Jr. and parents Oba Freeman and Lorayne Mobley Browning.

Ruby McKinley Smith, 80, of Greensboro, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Saint Joseph’s East Georgia Hospital in Greensboro. She was born on May 27, 1928 in Greene County to the late Carlos Perks McKinley and Ruby Esther Phelps McKinley. She attended Penfield School and graduated from Greensboro High School in 1945.

Lizzie Lee Bowles Thomas”Mother Liz”, 83, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Morgan Memorial Hospital in Madison after a lengthy illness. She was born October 11,1925 in the Godfrey community of Morgan County to the late Peter Bowles and the late Nettie Wells Bowles.

Lemuel “Leonard” Edwards

Lemuel “Leonard” Edward, 65, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Emory-Crawford Long Hospital. He was born April 1, 1943 the son of the late Craymon Roberson and Sallie Mae Edwards of Madison. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Buckhead. Mr. Edwards was employed 44 years at Pattillo Construction Company and retired in 2006.

Edith Simons Hanson

Edith Simons Hanson, 91, of Madison died Monday, March 23, 2009. She was born October 22, 1917 in Warren County to Daniel and Annie Parham Simons. She married Hugh Carroll Hanson on July 27, 1940. Mrs. Hanson was a member of Madison Baptist Church. She loved to cook for her family and enjoyed her flower gardens and singing. She was also a great basketball player in her youth.
